TikTok Influenced Me to Buy These Ribbed Flare Pants From Old Navy, and I’m Hooked

Fitness

TikTok is one of my favorite places to find style inspiration — and the app’s algorithm definitely knows that. Every day, the platform feeds me shopping haul videos, and often, they’re of shoppers raving about their Old Navy finds. A style I’ve seen from not one but several content creators is the Old Navy Extra High-Waisted PowerSoft Rib-Knit Flare Pants ($45), featuring a trendy yet timeless rib-knit texture and, above all, an ultracomfortable fit. As an athleisure obsessive, I was influenced to add the beige color “Wish Bone” to my shopping cart in my usual medium size — and I’ve lived in them since they landed on my doorstep. Keep reading for my full review of the highly rated style to determine whether you need them, too.

What I Love About the Old Navy Extra High-Waisted PowerSoft Rib-Knit Flare Pants

I’m obsessed with these flare pants for all the reasons everyone on TikTok is: they’re chic, comfortable, and versatile. Made of a lightly compressive combo of 79 percent nylon and 21 percent spandex, they feel practically weightless yet subtly sculpt your shape. They come in three neutral hues — beige, dark brown, and black. All are covetable, but Wish Bone is arguably the most popular, given that beige is having a major moment right now.

The most compelling detail about these pants is their rib-knit texture, which gives them a high-end look and feel. (Case in point: Google search similar styles, and you’ll see that competing options cost at least double the price.) Undoubtedly, they’re great for hot-girl walks and workouts, but shoppers also like to wear them to work and for nights on the town. “They look dressy enough to pair with heels and wear to the office or out,” writes one reviewer who gave them five stars. Another said: “These transition easily from workout to work. I pair them with a blazer and heels and get tons of compliments.”

What’s Worth Noting About the Old Navy Extra High-Waisted PowerSoft Rib-Knit Flare Pants

With over 600 five-star ratings and very few critiques, these pants are quickly becoming one of Old Navy’s bestsellers. One thing to note before you purchase the beige pair, like me, is that you may need seamless underwear that matches your skin tone to avoid seeing color or lines through them. Thankfully, the rib-knit fabric does a great job of ensuring the lightweight fabric is as opaque as possible. I can’t speak to the other colors (yet), but my guess is that they’re a little less see-through than the beige style.

Another thing: in my experience, these pants run a little big in the thigh and waist. If I could do it all again, I probably would have ordered both a small and medium to see which fit better, so keep that in mind if you’re in between sizes. And finally, I leave you with one word of warning: Old Navy’s Wish Bone-colored activewear is highly sought-after and nearly sold out entirely. I wanted to team the pants with the Seamless Performance Racerback Tank Top ($20, originally $26), but it’s sold out in my size, so I’ve been skipping the monochrome look and wearing it with the Light Support PowerSoft Longline Sports Bra ($12-$18) instead.

Who Is the Old Navy Extra High-Waisted PowerSoft Rib-Knit Flare Pants?

These pants are best for athleisure-lovers who love elevated silhouettes that can double as “real” clothes. Countless shoppers attest that they can be dressed up or down and wager you’ll be so obsessed like them that you’ll add a second and third to your shopping cart.
