Two-time Olympic swimmer Katie Ledecky will now be a three-time Olympian after securing her ticket to Tokyo for the women’s 400m freestyle. She won the event at the 2021 US Olympic Swimming Trials and plans to compete in the 200m, 800m, and 1,500m freestyle finals this week as well. We can’t wait to see what other event spots she’ll clinch!
“In the ready room, I had this moment. It was like surreal that we’re even here,” the six-time Olympic medalist said after that first finals at trials. “It just was a great feeling to be there and to lock in my spot.”
Ledecky, the most-decorated woman athlete of the 2016 Olympic Games, told POPSUGAR she won’t stop here. She hopes to swim in the Paris Olympic Games and, perhaps, in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, too.
Ahead, check out Ledecky’s qualifying race at the Olympic trials.
